DeHeng Updates Latest Edition of the Mergers & Acquisitions Review

DeHeng has updated the China chapter for Edition 13 of the Mergers & Acquisitions Review. The Mergers & Acquisitions Review, published by Law Business Research Limited, is a multi-jurisdiction overview of topics in mergers and acquisitions in each of the covered jurisdictions. The overviews are written for an audience of corporate lawyers, in-house counsels, and government and corporate officers.

The Mergers & Acquisitions Review is updated annually. In this year's update, the further liberalization of Chinese investment law is covered, most notably in the financial sector.

"Global investment banks have seized the opportunity to raise their shareholding to 51 per cent in their Chinese business ventures. UBS increased its shareholding in its securities joint venture to 51 per cent in December 2018. JP Morgan raised its shareholding in a local mutual fund business to 51 per cent in July 2019. Many more foreign investments in the local financial services industry are expected. Nomura and JP Morgan are expected by the end of 2019 to open Nomura Orient International Securities and JP Morgan Chase Securities (China) Co Ltd respectively, both 51 per cent held securities joint ventures with local investment firms."

The chapter is authored by Wei (David) Chen, Head of Cross Border Transactions and Kai Xue, Counsel. Tong Yongnan, Wang Guan, Wang Yuwei, Hu Tie, Zhang Xu, and Shen Sisi also contributed to the update of the chapter.
