Recently, DeHeng won a major 2025 research project from the Tianjin Arbitration Commission. The awarded project is titled “Research on the Validity of Mandatory Arbitration Clauses in Trust Documents: Against the Background of Asset Service Trusts.” The bidding process involved rigorous evaluation, and DeHeng ultimately stood out with its accurate understanding of the project, novel research approach, solid professional capabilities, and feasible research plan.

This project aims to conduct an in-depth and systematic analysis of the validity determination of mandatory arbitration clauses in trust documents, using asset service trusts as the specific research context. The research will cover relevant legal principles, comparisons of domestic and international judicial practices, analysis of the particularities of different types of asset service trusts, and pathways for optimizing clause design and interpretation within the current legal framework. The research outcomes are expected to provide clear adjudication guidance for arbitration institutions handling such cases, offer practical references for financial institutions like trust companies to standardize business contract terms and effectively manage legal risks, and contribute professional insights to the improvement and development of related legal practices.

DeHeng attaches great importance to this research project. The research team is led by lawyer Guo Weifeng, director of DeHeng’s Global Wealth Management Business Center. The research work is specifically overseen by Bai Gaoyuan, advisor to the Center. The team members include several lawyers and external experts with extensive theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the fields of private wealth management, financial trusts, and commercial arbitration.
