DeHeng’s Middle East Office Assisted Chinese Enterprise in Full Enforcement of CIETAC Arbitral Award in Saudi Arabia, Recovering RMB 46.6 Million
2025-10-23
Recently, DeHeng’s Middle East Office assisted a Chinese enterprise in obtaining full enforcement in Saudi courts of an arbitral award issued by the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (“CIETAC”) (Case No. [2024] Jing Cai Zi No. 0034). The Saudi court has received the enforcement amount of 24,544,700 Saudi Riyals (approximately RMB 46.6 million), covering principal, losses, arbitration costs, etc. It is transferring the funds to the applicant’s account. This case not only secured full enforcement of a Chinese arbitral award in Saudi courts but also set a new record for the largest single enforcement amount in the history of judicial cooperation between China and Saudi Arabia.
Previously, on August 1, 2025, DeHeng’s Middle East Office announced that the Saudi court had recognized and commenced enforcement of the CIETAC arbitral award. Merely two months later, the full enforcement of the CIETAC award was completed, fully demonstrating the Office’s efficiency and professionalism in cross-border enforcement.
Since the Office was mandated with this case, over four years have elapsed until this successful enforcement, involving an extremely complex process. Faced with numerous obstacles, DeHeng lawyers, together with the CIETAC tribunal, exhausted all lawful service channels, ultimately achieving legal and effective service of judicial documents. The tribunal conducted hearings in the absence of the Saudi company and issued the award in January 2024, ordering the Saudi company to pay the outstanding payment, all losses, and the full arbitration costs.
