DeHeng Assisted CNNP Rich Energy in Acquiring Two Wind Power Projects in Kazakhstan

On June 20, 2024, CNNP Rich Energy Co., Ltd., the non-nuclear clean energy development, construction, and operation platform under China National Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. (CNNP) completed the equity transfer of the Abai1-100MW and Abai2-50MW wind power projects in Kazakhstan. In this project, DeHeng, in collaboration with the local Kazakhstan law firm GRATA International Law Firm, represented the acquirer and provided full-process legal services for this cross-border acquisition.
The acquisition was carried out by CNNP Rich Energy through its wholly-owned subsidiary, CRE International Co., Ltd., marking the first overseas wind power project acquisition for CNNP and CNNP Rich Energy.
As the legal advisor for the acquirer, the DeHeng team was led by partners Jia Hui and Li Kaiqi from the Beijing Office, with primary support from lawyers Guo Yujia, Ju Guang, and Mou Jiashuang. Together with the Kazakhstan legal team, they provided full-process legal services for this project, including legal due diligence, transaction structure design, legal argumentation, business negotiations, drafting and reviewing transaction documents, and project closing.
