DeHeng Law Offices Silicon Valley Successfully Blocked U.S. Court’s Long-Arm Jurisdiction and Won Another Landmark Victory for Chinese Companies in the United States

On December 19, 2023, the U.S. Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals (the “Eighth Circuit” for short) issued a judgment dismissing a contract dispute case against China National Materials Industry Import & Export Corporation (“Sinoma”), a subsidiary of China National Building Material Group Co., Ltd., on the grounds of lack of jurisdiction. In this case, Sinoma was represented by the team led by lawyer Zhu Keliang, head of DeHeng Law Offices Silicon Valley. After years of court battles, DeHeng won the first instance for Sinoma in the federal district court last year, and later, the other party appealed to the Eighth Circuit. DeHeng Law Offices Silicon Valley cited a number of cases despite the unfavorable factual evidence, and finally persuaded the Eighth Circuit to accept our position: the US court should not exercise jurisdiction over Sinoma, and the case against Sinoma should be completely dismissed.
