DeHeng Lawyers Successfully Represented a Case of Inside Information Leakage

On August 5, 2023, DeHeng lawyers received a criminal verdict from the Beijing No. 3 Intermediate People’s Court, in which Client A they represented was sentenced to five years and six months in prison for the crime of leaking inside information, compared to seven years priorly suggested by the procuratorate.

In 2017, Client A, then an executive of a public company, learned about the inside information of the company’s plan to merge with Company B at the restructuring work meeting, and shared the information with his relatives who then used the information to buy a large number of shares of the public company and made a profit. Subsequently, the public prosecution organ indicted A for the crime of leaking inside information and suggested that the court sentence A to seven years in prison and a fine of RMB 500,000.

After A’s arrest was approved, DeHeng was mandated and formed a team led by Wang Gang, director of its Xiongan Office, with support from Guo Xiao, Dai Ran, and Chai Ting. After many meetings with the client and review of the files, they collected a lot of evidence, and formulated a detailed defense plan on this basis. In the course of the trial, they used their professional knowledge and logical reasoning and persuaded the public prosecution organ to change the sentencing recommendation, which is rare, and finally won the lightest sentence for the client.
