DeHeng Advised Some Multinational Corporation on Establishing the Compliance System for Personal Information Protection

Since the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Protection of Personal Information went into force and supporting regulations were introduced, the protection of personal information has received much attention. Recently DeHeng was hired by a large multinational company headquartered in Europe, and advised it on establishing the compliance system for personal information protection for its subsidiaries in China.

The DeHeng team, led by partner Ma Jun, with primary support from lawyers Wang Xiaohui, Chen Yingdan and Du Peitong, provided professional, all-round and high-quality legal services for the client. They conducted a comprehensive survey on the business activities of the client’s subsidies in China, and fully communicated with the data compliance department of its European headquarters and its compliance, HR, and IT teams in China. Accordingly they proposed measures for improving the personal information processing activities involved in the business and operations and how to implement them. They also provided comprehensive legal support for the establishment of the compliance system for personal information protection in its Chinese subsidies, including process design, institutionalization, text improvement, emergency response planning and alignment with the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation.
